[daughter] has been with you five months- changed homes and states/environments.
What is her mother’s health history?  Answer: Asthma.
Are you interested in having a doctor evaluate possible allergies for [daughter] [last name]?

As her father who is present and fully capable of evaluating the needs of my children, I am comfortable with the course of action I have chosen, as is our pediatrician.  If she is not feverish and not with swollen lymph nodes, its either a mild cold or allergies.  If she requires an OTC, I will ensure to give her medication suited to her needs.  However, she has stated that she does not feel ill enough to need medication and I trust her judgment on her own comfort level.  I told her we would re-evaluate in the morning as to her receiving medication.

Your degree in nursing is merely a month old.. no one would expect you or anyone else to diagnose the child after a phone conversation.  I also will remind you that you wanted to take [daughter] to the ER or urgent care for a mosquito bite and demanded a throat culture for a sore throat that our pediatrician assures us is not necessary.

Gosh, [Custodial Dad].
I beg you to reconsider.
I would not even be able to diagnose allergies.

[daughter] has a mild cough and it is something I feel doesn’t need to be seen by a doctor.  I believe it is allergies however if it doesn’t resolve or she develops a fever or swollen lymph nodes, I will promptly bring her in to be examined.  She continues to improve daily as the day progressed without a cough.

[Custodial Dad],
I have no word from you about [daughter]’s cough and throat pain status.
Did you take her in tot he doctor?
Why or why not?
Did you hear the thickness of the mucus when she coughs?
What do you think?

Are you saying she suddenly developed Asthma over the course of five months?  As an asthmatic, did you witness symptoms of asthma?  I certainly have not.

Curious, where is the balance of her medical file as there is a long gap between her [town in home state] Pediatrician and Dr. [doctor].  I believe two or more years, which is significant in a child who is merely 8.
